Development of Kochadaiyaan – In Jan 2011, After the Successful Project of Rajinikanth With S. Shankar's Enthiran, a historical Drama directed by K.S Ravikumar and Produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, Rajinikanth’s next film will be RANA. Unfortunately Rajinikanth Became ill and and went through many medical treatment and hospital visits. Few Months After when Rajinikanth returned from the hospital treatment , he was told to take rest and not to work which resulted the restart of making Rana unsuccessful.the project was no more discussed . In Nov 23 , Soundarya Tweeted that Rajinikanth’s next film would be Titled as Kochadaiyaan.

Rajinikanth is confirmed to play the Hero of The Movie, and Sneha is Confirmed to play Rajinikanth’s sister in the movie.Sneha is also making her debut into Bollywood with the movie Mad Dad along side Naseeruddin Shah and Ayesha Takia to be directed by Revathy S Varma.

Kochadaiyaan Meaning History and Story:
The Movie is inspired by the name of the Pandya Dynasty king Kochadaiyan Ranadhiran, the King was a was the son and successor of Arikesari Maravarman.He asserted his superiority over the Cheras and Cholas and subdued the Marathas in the city of Mangalapuram, the modern day Mangalore. He also started the hostilities with the Chalukyas of Badami and the Gangas. He also undertook a campaign against the Ay chieftains. He defeated them in Kurunadu in south Travancore and this earned him the allegiance of the Ay chief.
The title draws reference to an alternate name of Hindu deity Shiva and that the plot would be "a fictional account with small references to history".

The Movie is expected to be the first Indian 3D film shot with the kind of performance capturing technology used in films such as Avatar and The Adventures of Tintin.
