Velayudham (Tamil: வேலாயுதம்) is an upcoming Tamil action-masala film directed by M. Raja. It stars Vijay, Hansika Motwani and Genelia D'Souza in lead roles. The film was formally launched on July 15, 2010 with its photo shoots taken earlier during the month. Produced by V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, the film is currently in its post-production stage and expected to release in August 2011.
Vijay's film with Jayam Raja opposite Genelia and Hansika is heading for a Ramzan release, on August 31st. The film has shaped up very well according to those in the know. It is going to be a typical masala entertainer that has been inspired from one of Nagarjuna's superhit Telugu films. The film has been tailored so that there will be a little something for everybody and a lot for his hardcore fans.
The film has been produced by Aascar Ravichandran and will also be distributed by him. Word is that a lot of money has gone into making the song and action sequences. But the makers feel that the end product will be totally worth it. The music by Vijay Antony is also getting good reviews. Sony has brought the rights and will be releasing it.
